ABOUT THE STUDY
NECTAR is a nationwide clinical trial studying new drugs to see if they help patients who are in the hospital and have COVID-19 recover.
NECTAR is a nationwide clinical trial studying new drugs to see if they help patients who are in the hospital and have COVID-19 recover.
WHY IS THIS STUDY IMPORTANT?
People are still becoming sick and hospitalized with COVID-19. (1) (2)
Treatments are still needed to help fight the virus and improve recovery. (3)
Older adults, rural residents, those with other health conditions, and racially and ethnically
diverse groups are more likely to be infected, hospitalized, or die from COVID-19. (4) (5)

It is important to find out if these new drugs help people get better from COVID-19,
especially those impacted the most.
WHAT NEW DRUGS ARE BEING STUDIED?
Several different new drugs are being studied. These might help patients with COVID-19 get better faster by helping to prevent or undo lung damage caused by the virus.
Each drug is different and may be given in a different way.
This may include by: IV, mouth, or injection.
Additional drugs may be added or removed from the study at any time. See the table below for a list of current and former drugs included in the trial.

HOW THE FINDINGS FROM
THIS STUDY WILL BE USED
Information from this study will help researchers learn if new drugs help hospitalized patients recover from COVID-19.
After the study, researchers will share the findings in different ways. Click here to sign-up to receive the results of this study through a newsletter.
A summary of the study results will also be shared on ClinicalTrials.gov and this website.
